Ted Kaptchuk did a clinical trial for severe arm pain, both of the methods used were fake. The pills were made of cornstarch and the acupuncture needles idd not even break skin. His study showed how much the human brain affet something, if you though it to be true, than it was true. Kaptchuk set out to uncover the psychological responses that makes your brain think and function in a certain way.

During a clinical trial people with severe arm pain were given either pain killers or acupuncture people started staying they were having bad side effects from these methods but some people were saying that it was helping but what they did not know was the pain killers were just corn starch and the needles did not even break the skin.
